Where do I even begin? My stay at The Asa Maia in Uluwatu was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I arrived, I was embraced by the warmth and genuine hospitality of the incredible staff, who made me feel like part of their family. Every interaction was thoughtful, personal, and effortless — their kindness truly made the experience unforgettable.
The facilities are five-star in every sense. The design is elegant yet grounded in nature, with every detail carefully curated to create an atmosphere of peace, luxury, and authenticity. The spa, the pool, the yoga shala, the sauna – everything is immaculate, beautifully maintained, and just so serene.
But beyond the beauty and luxury, what makes Asa Maia truly special is the feeling you get when you’re there. It honestly felt like a home away from home – safe, calming, restorative. It’s the kind of place that speaks to your soul. Words truly can’t do justice to the profound sense of peace I felt each day. I left feeling more connected, more alive, and more grounded than I’ve felt in a long time.
I will absolutely be coming back – there’s nowhere else quite like it. If you’re considering it, book it. You won’t regret a single moment.

Wow! Relaxing to the point where you have zero responsibilities except thinking about what wellness course you want to take next. Elegant minimalist design which goes far beyond beautiful colors. Natural materials, not a piece of plastic in site. Unique qualities everywhere like the sauna and cold pool (I won’t give away how impressive this is), the walkways to your hut, and the upcycled materials used for construction.
Definitely the best hotel experience I have had. Took me some time to get used to having everything taken care of and not having to lift a finger. Wish I stayed longer.
Could not believe how welcoming the staff makes you feel and how unburdened they appear by every request. We met the owners and they were so passionate about the place.

A Soulful Sanctuary in Uluwatu Staying at The Asa Maia is like opening your eyes to the heart and soul of Bali. This is not just a place to rest your head—it's a beautifully curated experience that pays homage to Indonesia's rich cultural heritage in the most thoughtful and inspiring way. Every detail, from the carefully restored traditional cottages to the art, books, and even the movies on offer, feels intentional and meaningful.
Wherever you look, you’ll feel Martha’s vision brought to life—each piece of furniture and artwork has been handpicked with care, and the result is both tasteful and impactful. The design strikes a perfect balance between honoring Balinese traditions and creating a calming, uncluttered environment. Nothing feels like an afterthought.
What truly elevated our stay was the warm and genuine hospitality of Elif and the entire team. We felt completely cared for from the moment we arrived.
Highlights of our stay included the silent air conditioning (a rare treat!), restorative yoga sessions, contrast therapy, and the serene pool area. We loved having an all-day breakfast menu (yes, the food is as nourishing as the vibe), and the gym and sauna were impeccably maintained and surprisingly well-equipped.
If there's one area with room for growth, it's the food. While the quality is good, the menu doesn’t quite match the high standard set by the rest of the property. It felt a bit unsure of its culinary identity—leaning heavily on typical "hipster" café staples like avocado toast and granola bowls. We would have loved to see more local flavors represented, especially on the breakfast menu, to fully align with the deep cultural authenticity that defines the rest of the Asa Maia experience.
Nonetheless, this is a truly special place—and one we can’t wait to return to.

Next level, unique Retreat experience. So glad I went, and will go back!
You can see how incredible the architecture, furnishing & atmosphere is from the Photos. So I shall detail the other brilliant thing - the people.
The owner and coaches / teachers aren’t just world class in their art, but friendly legends. I felt such genuine connections for the 5 nights I stayed as we hung in Saunas & plunges & around the fire pit. (Meeting good people like this is super valuable for a solo traveller). Plus I learned a tonne and grew as a person, which is what you want on a wellness retreat.
Special Mention - Daniella & her movement classes. I’ve done a lot of calisthenics & Ido Portal training, so I was absolutely thrilled with Daniela’s style of coaching which blend aspects of functional movement & playful patterns with mindfulness & Yoga. She’s also a master with anatomy / physiology & tailored the classes to address the attendees problem areas / habitual patterning. In essence, I was getting a customised class with rehabilitative and long lasting benefits every morning & evening. Considering it was often a small class (2 or 3), this was insanely good value. I would want to come back to just spend more time training with Daniella.
Also - I strongly recommend the Breathwork classes. It was my first time and the experience was more poignant and impactful than I had imagined.

An oasis of relaxation.
My daughter and I found this an oasis of sublimity. A little piece of Bali near Uluwatu. This establishment has been built with the greatest attention to the finest detail- from the private bungalows built from one hundred year old teak wood, to Italian crafted linen bedding and the beautiful mini bar treats which were replenished daily. The infinity pool is beautifully positioned, a great size and exceptionally clean. The restaurant serves delicious freshly prepared food every day and the inclusive breakfast was both substantial and delicious. The treatments were performed with the utmost proficiency and professionalism- my best ever massage! Daily activities are included, such as yoga and hot and cold plunge pools which are architecturally integrated into the land with a meandering path leading to subterranean pools with an open air aspect. Just amazing! Danielle was the instructor for these activities and she was a force of nature, inspirational and a font of knowledge regarding the human body. The owner, Martha, was often on site and gave of her time willingly to chat to her guests.
We were so impressed we didn’t even venture out! The best experience I’ve ever had on holiday!

Tucked away in the cliffs of Uluwatu, this boutique wellness hotel offers a deeply personal and natural retreat far from the crowds and chaos. Unlike large commercial resorts, this place embraces a smaller, more intimate approach — and that’s exactly what makes it so special.
Everything here feels real. From the handcrafted wooden sunbeds to the natural stone table beside the pool, the hotel integrates beautifully with its environment. The pool itself is a rare highlight — free of chlorine, filled with mineral-balanced and filtered seawater. Swimming here feels like a healing ritual, not just a dip.
Wellness at this hotel isn’t one-size-fits-all. The facilities are designed for individual and personalized classes, allowing guests to explore yoga, meditation, or healing practices at their own pace with guidance from an amazing team. The staff is incredibly warm and attentive — service feels heartfelt and never forced.
What truly sets this place apart are the rooms. You don’t just stay in a villa — you live in a restored home that was once inhabited by real Indonesian families over a century ago. The villas retain their original charm and energy, offering an unbelievable feeling of connection to local spirit and culture.
This hotel doesn’t just offer a stay — it offers an experience that touches the soul.
I’ll surely be back.

I took part in a bespoke wellness retreat package at The Asa Maia. After a busy period at work it was exactly what I needed! The retreat gave me perfect balance of alone time to reconnect with myself and the opportunity to meet some very kind and like-minded people. Daily contrast therapy, yoga and breathwork sessions were amazing - best I’ve experienced. The food is absolutely delicious, so nourishing and full of flavor. The staff, practitioners and owners took the best care of me. I can’t wait to come back!!

The Asa Maia is one of my favourite things about Bali. I always look forward to spending time there unwinding from the hustle & bustle of the island. And the sauna/ice bath combo is a must after days of tiring surf sessions. Shout out to the owners for always taking the time to come say hello

The daily blend of yoga, contrast therapy, and breathwork was not only refreshing but also greatly enhanced my overall experience. Additionally, I was impressed by the establishment's commitment to environmental solutions, which made my stay feel even more meaningful.

Asamaia is a complete heaven for Wellness , yoga and rejuvenation which is beautifully conceived and executed in the best possible manner. The eye for detailing for each and every aspect is really amazing and nothing is left to imagination when it comes to service and infrastructure facilities available. The staff is extremely efficient and very hospitable. Most important the Teachers for various training and sessions are extremely talented and passionate about their activities which makes it more appreciable.
The rustic environments that are built with the traditional balinise architecture gives a complete traditional atmosphere and positive Vibes. The serene atmosphere and sustainability measures at every aspect , is impressive. The place one must visit to experience and explore the world of spirituality and Wellness, a home away from home..

Best resort during our honeymoon!
We already dearly miss The Asa Maia! My wife and I spent five nights here during the first leg of our honeymoon and it was our favorite resort during a four-stop trip.
Where to start.. the staff was super friendly with many getting to know our names. The food was great during each meal and we appreciated the seed oil-free menu. The spa was incredible. The resort is so thoughtfully designed; we loved how there is a large communal table for meals in which you can interact with fellow guests. Definitely the best coffee we had during our stay.
There's something to be said about an inclusive breakfast that is not a buffet! We truly enjoyed the juices, homemade banana bread, and healthy food options. And of course - the wellness activities. From pilates with Danielle to breathwork with Marylene to daily contrast therapy (infrared sauna and cold plunge), we loved it all.
In looking back, my wife Isabel and I realized the following as our criteria for traveling when us two: wellness resort (i.e., daily wellness activities), truly healthy food options, spa, boutique, and adults-only. The Asa Maia had all this.
